  • A look behind the scenes – How is our music video created? –

First there is always the music, that means Beda or I bring a first idea in the respective recording studio „on tape“, today it is the computer with the appropriate software.

In his cultural centre in Accra, Ghana, Beda has an acoustically optimized room, Beda’s recording studio, in which he has countless instruments. There they rehearse and record. The musical idea is tried out & rehearsed, and if it’s ok, there is a recording of it.
For the recording you need microphones, a mixing desk, recording software, monitor – speakers, cables, a powerful computer, etc.

This audio recording, an audio file, is then placed on Dropbox. I download it from Dropbox to my laptop, listen to it with headphones, and go to my studio with the audio file. There, besides the many instruments (flute – alto flute – bass flute – contrabass flute – subcontrabass flute – various bansuris, etc.), you will also find microphones, cables, mixing desk, effect devices, recording computers, speakers – monitors, etc.

I listen to the recording several times, think about what I could contribute, try out different variations, record something, discard it again, again, several times until I am satisfied. Then I mix the new recording together with the audio file from Beda, optimize, listen, optimize, listen, …

I send the musical result via dropbox back to Beda in Ghana and look forward to his reaction. Sometimes he immediately finds it ok, sometimes something is missing, sometimes we change something.
If everything is right, I load the final audio file into my video software and think about what might fit: Photos or videos of the musicians playing, something abstract, landscapes, moods, etc. I search for something suitable in my photo archive.
Then I put the video clips and photos together parallel to the music, so that it results in a dramaturgy! Finally I add the title, the subtitles and the credits. The finished video is rendered and uploaded to YouTube on my youtube – channel called flutetrends. On Youtube I add some text (title & description), then I send Beda the link to Youtube.
He then gives his opinion. Maybe I change something, and the procedure with rendering and upload to YouTube starts again …
Finally the video is ready to send it one by one via Whatsapp to friends to watch and listen to it …
of course with headphones 🎧!

– Have fun! –

Bansuris, etc.) ebenfalls Mikrofone, Kabel, Mischpult, Effektgeräte, Aufnahmecomputer, Lautsprecher – Monitore, etc.
